BioMaCon BioMassConverter
converts biomass into gas and biochar. The gas replaces fossil fuels. The biochar is used for soil improvement. Above all, biochar binds CO2 for more than thousand years!
BIOMACON Simplex M Converter

The first plant of this type was delivered to Berlin in September 2013. The plant is used in the botanic garden in connection with the project "TerraBoGa". More plants of this type are already in the building progress. In the following there are pictures to give a first impression. The process is explained shortly. Data and characteristic numbers support the presentation of the pyrolysis plant of BioMaCon.

length: 2,5 m

width: 1 m

height: 2,5 m

Wood chips are taken from the commodity storage and reach the plant through the screw conveyor (not in the picture). After passing a rotary (on the top, left) the pyrolysis process begins. Inside of the BIOMACON Simplex M Converter the raw material is heated up and is carbonized in the absence of oxygen. At the end of the process the biochar is grind in a mill. Further screw conveyors transport the product, the biochar, in a collection bag .

Characteristic values:

raw material capacity: 40 kg/h

biochar result: 15 % (= 6 kg/h)

nominal thermal capacity: 60 kW

duration of pyrolysis: 60 minutes

grain size after grinding: 0-25 mm

power consumption of engines: 4,5 kWel (=1,5 x 3)

raw material temperature: ambient air temperature

product temperature: 70 °C

exhausting temperature: 250°C

Two-thirds of the energy are emitted by heat which can be used for different applications (e.g. heating) and one third of the energy remains in the biochar.
